Bayou Labatre and Coden 5 weeks later

Here's a windshield tour of Bayou Labatre and Coden Alabama that we took today, 5 weeks after katrina. It is about 10 miles from our location located on the Gulf Of Mexico. Note the empty lots and pilings where homes once stood. Alot of the houses are built on stilts. All were damaged to some degree. Many simply disappeared as debris into the receding waters. Note the shrimp boats out of water. Note all the junk and debris in the trees and fences that remained after the water receded. For those that don't know, Bayou La Batre is a small shrimping village that nets and processes most of the shrimp you eat and was the setting for the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in the movie Forrest Gump.
