1950 Dodge Coronet

My very first car that i bought for $35 on June 1, 1966 was a 1950 Dodge Coronet that was very similar to the ones pictured here. It was black with a green door and a belt wrapped around the door posts holding the drivers door closed. It was a flat head straight six cylinder with fluid drive and burned alot of oil. Fluid drive was a 3 speed manual transmission with a torque converter like automatics have. So, obviously it had to be manually shifted, but the clutch was not needed if you didn't want to use it. One day I went thru a park and knocked the plug out of the oil pan. Not knowing anything about cars I drove it until it quit running. We pushed it home, got an oil pan from a junk yard, filled it up with 50 weight oil and it never burned another drop of oil. Then I drove it 40 miles on the highway to my dad's house. I couldn't go over 35mph because the engine was making so much noise at that speed. I killed the engine at the bottom of dad's driveway and it never started again. We stripped it down. The body made a good deer stand and is probably still out in the woods today somewhere around 46°31'5.65"N 92°38'4.37"W. I probably had the car running a total of two months, but at age 16 it seemed like forever. Of course at that time i didn't even have a driver's license or insurance.
